PASS
You may have noticed the shiny hologram on the front of your card. This is to show that the card is official proof of age identification, certified by PASS (National Proof of Age Standards Scheme).
This means that you can gain access to the age-restricted goods and services to which you are legally entitled. Retailers will check the photo and date of birth to ensure the sale can proceed.
Current age restrictions are
Tobacco & Cigarettes: 18+
Lottery: 16+
Alcohol: 18+
Fireworks: 18+
Lighter fluid/gas etc 18+
Knives: 18+
Because PASS is a national scheme, the hologram should be recognised all over the UK.
However if your card is refused as official proof of age, you can contact PASS directly to report your card being refused. To do this you can fill out a form on their website (click on "Information for Young People"), giving them information on when and where your card was refused. PASS will then contact the shop/venue directly and come back to you soon after to let you know what the outcome is.
